it's peanut butter jelly time

I'm not really a fan of jam but a couple weeks ago I spotted this grape jelly at the supermarket with noodle and decided to get it since she loved grape so much. It isn't like the other jams I've had before, it's not as sweet so I am loving it. It makes a good breakfast, many days I have some crackers with peanut butter, grape jelly and maybe a banana. The other day I decided to try it with some new Cinnamon crackers and it didn't end well, the crackers were so big, tough and dry that as far as I was concerned it was inedible.. I didn't know what I was going to do with the rest of the bag. They remind me of the same nasty water crackers a previous exs used to snack on without any toppings, it always blew my mind why she liked them so much.

Seeing it was a rather big bag and I wasn't going to eat it and I think throwing away food should be a crime punishable by death I took it with me on the way to work in hopes of finding someone more needy to give it to. I didn't have to drive far before I came across the I am HIV lady, who normally hangs around the Barbican area. She was very happy for it unlike the other supposedly hungry homeless people who have asked me for money before but when I offered them some of my breakfast rejected it and walked off. I guess they were only hungry for coke.

I am mad that you took a picture of the "I am HIV" lady and then threw it up on your blog like that. Did u ask her permission to publish her photo on the internet?

I never took her picture, Ria did.. click the link.

Ria also explained that she got consent from the lady. To quote Ria's site for those who choose not to follow the link:

When I asked to take her picture, I suggested that I wouldn’t photograph her face. “Nah man,” she replied. “P’haps udda people learn from my mistakes.”

I see that lady at that very same spot and she always has her sign up and is not hiding her HIV status....
I have found that you have to be careful what you eat the cinnamon flavored crakers with as not everythign goes with that cinnamon flavor.....I wud put peanut butter and jelly in that group....It is funny after years of not eatign peanut butter i just bought a jar (of the chunky kind) about 1 wk ago...ironic!

I used to love grape jelly when I was a child! I used to eat it with peanut butter and bread, bread and cheese with crackers. But now, I hardly eat Jellies, or anything too sweet.

I have never seen her, when I used to drive up that way.

I need to try out the Welch's grape jelly. I like the juice, so perhaps the jam will be just as good.

Once, while at the stoplight at the intersection of Washington Blvd. and Molynes Rd., a woman approached the vehicle I was in and started telling a woeful tale of how she ended up with AIDS. My mother offered her some food, which she refused, wanting money instead. So, I know what you mean. Ai sah, what to do?

so whats this y'all are telling me.. I should add cheese to the mix? peanut butter, jelly, banana and cheese? [drooling] sounds like an explosion of flavor waiting to happen in my mouth :p

Welch's grape jelly.. even the bottle looks nice.

@jamaican dawta: I am always torn as to giving them money.. I think they will use it to aid with their substance abuse or something.

hey guys take it from me i got a bro who is on the shit!!! don't give them the money don't!!! no matter how pitiful the story sounds it only make it harder for us who are trying to help them change...
My bro tells me he don't worry about food cause he eats KFC and BK every day cause he just goes in the bin and he gets all 6 pieces sometimes and for clothes he just pick them up off the lines so all he needs money for is his habbit... damn!!!

"peanut butter, jelly, banana and cheese?"

Oh ya...that's an explosion of something alright! lol! :) Funny enough, mint honey with cream cheese on crackers is pretty good.

Having done some voluntary work at a rehab centre, I agree with Bobby. Give them food or clothes. Never money. If they are addicts they never use the money to buy food. If you really want to give money, give it to a shelter or rehab center or someplace committed to feeding or otherwise helping the homeless/ mentally ill/drug addicts.
